Villa’s capitulation against Arsenal on Sunday was alarming, they need to get that out of their system as soon as possible - the effect that will have had on their confidence can’t be overstated.

Neither Marc Albrighton or James Collins will be available on Wednesday night, but Charles N’Zogbia have been declared fit.

QPR will give debuts to Taye Taiwo, Nedum Onuoha and Djibril Cisse, although Bobby Zamora’s money-lust delayed his transfer for too long for him to be registered in-time. Akos Buzsaky and Danny Gabbidon are both doubts for the trip to the Midlands.

Well it could go either way couldn’t it. Not to make too obvious a point, but you wouldn’t be too surprised by any result.

One thing to not though, QPR today are a different side to the one they were the day before yesterday - they carry a much heavier punch. If Djibril Cisse(f/g) plays, he’s going to give this side some menace in the final third that they haven’t had this season. Conversely, Taiwo and Onuoha provide the upgrade in security that the side desperately needed.

Villa are…underwhelming. I wrote earlier in the season that the team assembled by Alex McLeish and they way in which he has them playing really just equates to a two finger salute to the fans. Negative, unambitious, awful to watch. The fans at Villa Park deserve better. Yes, Darren Bent(f/g) and Gabby Agbonlahor(f/g) are still there, but there’s frequently such a chasm between them and the midfield that, assets as they are, they’re rendered redundant.

I’ll take Rangers here - new manager, new players, new momentum. The odd goal in three.

1-2.
