One team’s relegation is another side’s opportunity and when the bottom-three places in the Premier League are eventually decided, there will be players determined to do all they can to avoid having to spend a year in the Championship.
For entertainment purposes only, here’s a whole team of players who could be relegated this year but will likely command significant interest if their sides do go down - for the sake of argument, only those from teams in fifteenth to twentieth were considered. Aston Villa, despite a complete absence of flair or ambition, are already probably safe on 34 points, so they’re the cut-off point. Swansea, West Brom, Norwich, Fulham, and Sunderland? Not so much.
Some honourable mentions and a couple of other players who will likely beat the drop even if their clubs don’t: Claudio Yacob, Jonas Olsson, Ben Foster, Steve Sidwell, Jordan Mutch, Stephane Sessegnon, Wilfried Bony, Pablo Hernandez, and Robert Snodgrass.
