Discussing Manchester United & Toni Kroos 1

The link betweeen Toni Kroos and Manchester United has been around for a while now, and some of the papers are increasingly confident that come the Summer the German will be heading for Old Trafford - the latest being The Mirror this morning.

Kroos is supposedly unhappy with his current contract at Bayern, and so there’s some logic to him moving to a club (United) who would be willing to match - and seemingly exceed - his demands, but doesn’t this just feel very unlikely?

Money is important to players, of course, but there has to be a point at which Kroos acknowledges that by agitating for a new deal at the Allianz Arena he is essentially cutting off his nose to spite his face. He’s started 16 Bundesliga games this season, so it’s fair to say Pep Guardiola sees him as an integral part of the side, and this is a special era for Bayern Munich - according to reports, Kroos will be willing to give-up his place within a potential dynasty for the sake of more contract Euros.

Maybe I’m being naive, but that doesn’t seem like a particularly good trade.

And if this really is just about money, and Kroos is indifferent to what’s happening at Bayern, surely clubs like Paris St Germain, Real Madrid et al have the capability to put a better offer on the table than Manchester United?
