Eden Hazard’s Chelsea season: Statistics 0

There’s been some speculation since the end of the season about Eden Hazard’s future at Chelsea.  Ever since Jose Mourinho publicly criticised the Belgian, the rumour-mongers have been busily concocting tales of a move to PSG - predictable, but still.  Hazard actually responded to Mourinho’s critique very well last week and acknowledged that there are areas of his game which need improvement, so anybody expecting a transfer demand might be waiting a while.

And, anyway, are Chelsea likely to allow  a 23 year-old with this kind of production to leave Stamford Bridge any time soon?  Short of receiving an absurd bid, I doubt it very much.

Here are Hazard’s stats from 2013/14:

-  Started 32 games and made 3 substitute appearances.

- Scored 14 goals (team leader).

- Provided his side with 7 assists (team leader).

- Averaged 2.1 shots per game.

- Completed 1285 of 1541 attempted passes (83.4%).

- Created 2.6 goal-scoring opportunities per game (joint team leader w/Willian).

- Completed an average of 3.8 successful dribbles per game (team leader).

- Was fouled an average of 2.5 times per game (team leader).

- Was dispossessed an average of 2.3 times per game (team leader).

- Completed 11 of 74 attempted crosses.

- Averaged 44 passes per game.

- Completed 56 of 75 attempted long-passes.

- Made 23 tackles.

- Made 19 interceptions.

- Committed 17 fouls.
