It would be reductive simply to attribute Liverpool’s lack of attacking rhythm to the absence of Luis Suarez, because if anything they just seemed to stuck almost in pre-season mode.  That’s a short-term worry and really something to be expected on the opening day against a resilient, hard-working Southampton side who actually out-created their hosts.
