Picking a Manchester City team to face Arsenal 0

Manchester City and Arsenal start the Premier League weekend off tomorrow lunchtime, and here’s a suggested team for the home side - justifications below:

- Costel Pantilimon’s technique isn’t the best, and he doesn’t look like a particularly natural goalkeeper - but this is neither the time nor the place to reintroduce Joe Hart, so the Romanian, despite being an accident waiting to happen, keeps his place.

- The partnership between Sergio Aguero and Alvaro Negredo is as complete as anything City have had during their current era, and between them they offer as wide a range of attributes as you could hope for from a modern forward combination. In games of this size - and at home - there’s little room for debate in that area of the pitch.

- Samir Nasri is having an encouraging recent resurgence, but I still prefer David Silva here. The Spaniard is the better passer of the ball, and unquestionably has better vision, and that added creativity will be important in an area of the pitch in which Arsenal are without the influential - and disciplined - Bacary Sagna. Carl Jenkinson needs to be exposed tomorrow afternoon, and Silva is best tool with which to do that.
