Tottenham & Thomas Ince: Reasons why not… 1

The Mirror is running a story this morning about Thomas Ince potentially being of interest to Tottenham - and they’re promoting the ‘Spurs vs Liverpool’ sub-plot again.

No, I don’t see this at all.

Ince will probably move from Blackpool in the Summer, because he is most definitely too good to be playing in the Championship, but he’s just not going to move to a side without some assurances of first-team football - and Andre Villas-Boas will not be able to give those to him.

He’s a good player, and someone who belongs at Premier League level, but he’s not elite talent - and he’s not comparable to either of the wingers who are currently at White Hart Lane. Additionally, there’s really not that much difference talent-wise between him and Andros Townsend - who will be returning to Tottenham after the expiration of his loan deal at QPR.

In fact, maybe Townsend edges that comparison.

There are other priorities for Villas-Boas and Daniel Levy at the end of the season, and they don’t really include adding another squad player for the sake of it. Ince will go back to Liverpool, that’s a safe assumption.
